Mexicanas Plantas 1: 94 (1872).
PROTOLOGUE. —« Absque loco (Schiede in herb.Mus. Par.); Orizaba (Bourg. n°3615); in terra temperata (Ghiesbr. n°407).».
LECTOTYPE (désigné ici). — Mexique. Dans les montagnes en terre tempérée, 1844, Ghiesbreght 407 (lecto-, P[P00643574]!).
SYNTYPES. — Mexique. Orizaba, 1865, Bourgeau 3615 (syn-, P[P00643573]!); s.loc., Schiede s.n., (syn-, P[P00643572]!).
AIRE DE RÉPARTITION (d’après Mickel & Smith 2004). — États-Unis (Floride), Mexique, Amérique centrale, Grandes Antilles, Amérique du Sud (Colombie, Équateur).
REMARQUE
Ces trois spécimens sont bien annotés de la main d’E. Fournier, mais notre choix s’est porté sur le spécimen Ghiesbreght 407 comme lectotype, car il constitue le matériel le plus complet pour ce taxon.
Les spécimens Bourgeau 3615 et Schiede s.n. ont été déterminés comme Thelypteris resinifera (Desv.) Proctor par A.R. Smith en 1976. Aspidium ghiesbreghtii E. Fourn. est actuellement considéré comme synonyme de Thelypteris resinifera (Desv.) Proctor par Smith (1981, 1983) et par Mickel & Smith (2004). Nous confirmons cette synonymie.
