Description

Dataset abstract

Flux of particles (snow, rain and other particles including sea spray) were recorded passing through a photo-electric snow particle counter installed on board the R/V Akademik Tryoshnikov as part of the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE). Data were recorded from January to March 2017 in the Southern Ocean. Here we present the finalised, quality-checked, horizontal particle flux data where counts have been averaged over a one-minute period.

Notes

The Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition was made possible by funding from the Swiss Polar Institute and Ferring Pharmaceuticals. We thank the crew of R/V Akademik Tryoshnikov for valuable support in instrument installation. These data were collected as part of the ACE Project 18, supported by grants from the SPI, the BNP Paribas Foundation, and the Swiss National Science Foundation. KL and the ACE project 18 were supported by Swiss National Science Foundation grant PZ00P2_142684. IG thanks FCT/ MCTES for the financial support to CESAM (UIDP/50017/2020+UIDB/50017/2020) and FCT project ATLACE (CIRCNA/CAC/0273/2019) through national funds.
