Distribution: India, Albania, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Azores, Belgium, Bhutan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Congo, Corse, Crete, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Iran, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Luxemburg, Macedonia, Madagascar, Malawi, Malta, Mexico, Mongolia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Paraguay, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Rep. South Africa, Sardinia, Serbia, Sicily, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tadzhikistan, Thailand, U.S.A., Vietnam, Zimbabwe.

Host: Larvae feed on leaves of Blumea balsamifera (Asteraceae) and flowers and seeds of Sopubia trifida (Scrophulariaceae). Gielis (1996) also reported Centaurium erythraea, C. umbellatum, C. littoralis, C. pulchellum, Blackstonia perfoliata, Gentianella germanica, G. diemensis, Gentiana lutea, Erythraea venusta (Gentianiacaea), Sopubia trifida (Orobanchaceae), and Blumea balsamifera (Asteraceae).
