Description

This dataset contains solar flares in classes B, C, M, and X at 1600 Angstrom wavelength. The images were obtained from the Solar Dynamics Observatory by the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly instrument. Besides, the dataset contains labels to indicate the active regions in each image.

Notes

The dataset contains files in png format (with grayscale images in 4096 x 4096 pixels) and the labels for defining a rectangle where the active regions that generated the solar flares are. The directory structure comprises four folders with B, C, M, and X solar flares images and two directories with the labels for M- and X-class flares. The labels are in the files with the same name as the image files.

The file names contain information about the date and time the flares occurred. It is after the second underline and before the 'Z' char. For instance: aia.lev1_uv_24s.2012-01-27T183707Z.1600.image_lev1.png means that the solar flare occurred on January 27th, 2012, at 18h, 37m, and 07s UTC.

Important notice: The files were compressed in zip format using Windows 10. If you use Linux, uncompress them with 7zip with the following command line: 7z e AIA1600.zip
