Aizoon lanceolatum Linnaeus, Systema Vegetabilium, ed. 13: 392. 1774, nom. illeg.
["Habitat in Africa."] Sp. Pl. 1: 488 (1753). RCN: 3716.
Replaced synonym: Aizoon paniculatum L. (1753).
Neotype (Adamson in J. S. African Bot. 25: 40. 1959): Sparrman 109, Herb. Linn. No. 650.6 (LINN).
Current name: Aizoon paniculatum L. (Aizoaceae).
Note: Aizoon lanceolatum appeared for the first time in 1774 where it was the third species of Aizoon, a position earlier occupied by A. paniculatum L. (1753). As the two names also share an identical diagnosis, A. lanceolatum is evidently a superfluous name for A. paniculatum.
