Lectotype (Pedley in George, Fl. Australia 22: 201. 1984): Herb. Linn. No. 173.1 (LINN).
Generitype of Ilex Linnaeus (vide Hitchcock, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 126. 1929).
Current name: Ilex aquifolium L. (Aquifoliaceae).
