Description
In Mexico there are communities organised by custom or convention to control the drinking water supply service. These institutions are integrated as water committees. Its authorities are voted and legitimised by community citizens. They are responsible of the control, management, and operation of the water service. They also contribute with the maintenance and repairs of water infrastructure and the protection of their communities’ water bodies. Therefore, this paper aims to contribute with the discussion about community management, water committees and population involvement in the structure of water committees and water management at community level.
