May (Vietic) Vernacular Texts

The file presents the 12 May language vernacular texts that were published with Vetnamese and Russian glosses and translations in Babaev, Kirill V. and Irina V. Samarina (2018. May language: Materials of the Russian-Vietnamese linguistic expedition (in Russian). YASK Publishing House) pp.459-545, here with the Russian translated into English. It is presented to accompany the expected 2021 publication of the English translation of that volume by Brill in their series Grammars and Sketches of the World's Languages. All but one of the texts was omitted from the English translation for the double benefit of reducing the page count in the printed book and making the texts more readily available in electronic form.
