General framework of exploration-production activities in Romania
Description
After more than 150 years of tradition in the petroleum industry in Romania and especially in the field of exploration and production of oil and gas, the period in which geological and geophysical research for hydrocarbons has evolved significantly and has allowed the accumulation of an impressive amount of information, the geological image of the main petroliferous basins in Romania is far from being fully elucidated. Book “General framework of exploration-production activities in Romaniaˮ is an attempt to achieve a regional synthesis of geological information of the main petroliferous basins in Romania, generally known but presented punctually and focused on detailed aspects or in limited areas within basins in different specialized magazines, technical books or other sources of information. The book can serve as a true guide for both connoisseurs and for those new or uninitiated in exploration and production activities in Romania. The book presents in a brief form notions and information related to the exploration-production sector in Romania. Thus, in the book are described the main proven hydrocarbon basins and working hydrocarbon systems in Romania (the existence of source rocks, reservoir rocks, and seal rocks, traps and hydrocarbon migration conditions); productive fields and undeveloped discoveries in Romania; new opportunities for oil and gas exploring in the main orogen and platform units; active players (operators and partners) in E&P Romania; transactions market in E&P Romania; license application process in E&P Romania in order to get NAMR license/attestation; fiscal terms in E&P Romania; and environmental regulations applicable in E&P Romania. The data and information presented in this paper comes from public sources and documents and represent the author's view of the activity in the Romania’s upstream, view formed during the period when he worked as geological engineer in the exploration-production department of an important oil company. Until the centralization of data and information, the author has read hundreds of documents, market studies, journals and scientific papers, doctoral thesis, quarterly/semestrial or annual reports of oil and gas companies in Romania, press releases of companies and government agencies on acquisitions, discoveries, implementation of programs for efficiency of the exploration-production activity, legislative regulations, technical and financial reports of consulting firms, information posted on petroleum companies websites in Romania or in Central and South-Eastern Europe, other sources of information in the field The book is addressed to students and graduates of the Faculty of Petroleum and Gas Engineering in the Petroleum-Gas University of Ploiesti, as well as students and graduates from other specializations related to the field of Geology and Reservoir Engineering. The book also addresses to the specialists in production and research in the oil and gas industry in Romania. The book is based on an extensive bibliography, is richly illustrated with figures, drawings and tables, giving readers the opportunity to use it for a good understanding of the exposed issues.
