Subjects and direct objects in Uralic languages: A functional explanation of case-marking systems
Description
This paper describes asymmetric differential object marking in various Uralic languages and proposes a functional explanation. It was published in an obscure venue, but it was cited often later because the pattern turned out to be very general.
