Transizione dal software proprietario a FOSS per un servizio di cartografia

Description

Currently, many EO Data Management agencies use proprietary GIS software for the analysis and production of geospatial products. However, the use of open source software is becoming more widespread among research institutes and international organizations. This promotes the development of plugins and tools running specific tasks for a broad array of research fields, allowing open source software to be very versatile. With this work we would like to describe the advantages and disadvantages of using an open source environment and its functionalities for humanitarian and natural disaster-related crisis and environmental assessment mapping. We will propose a potential workflow based on QGIS and ESA SNAP toolbox for a satellite-based analysis and mapping production chain.
