The use of renewable energy sources is growing rapidly as an alternative to conventional sources and it has been argued that community-based renewable and non-renewable energy projects found on public participation are more likely to be accepted by the public than top-down large schemes and may bring additional benefits, such as increased cooperation on sustainable energy issues.
