Beaver Intrinsic Potential (BIP) Model for Scott Watershed, CA

Description

There are several models in circulation for calculating the potential of an area to support beaver or beaver dams, but this project uses a beaver intrinsic potential model based on the methods developed by Dittbrenner et al. (2018). This model is not intended to replace existing models, but rather to explore some of the same questions while using only remotely sensed landscape characteristics. The factors included in this model are stream gradient, bankfull width, and valley width. The results of this analysis show a ranking of beaver habitat suitability based on the intrinsic potential of the land features to facilitate dam construction.
