Description
Here we make our CO and [CI] far-infrared/submillimeter line measurements in Liu et al. 2015 (2015ApJ...810L..14L) publicly available. These lines are observed with Herschel SPIRE Fourier Transform Spectrometer (FTS). The observational raw data are publicly available in Herschel Science Archive. We reduced them with our tuned Herschel pipelines and measured the lines in the data, and have measured the beam-matched Herschel PACS photometry so as to enable our beam-matched CO and far-infrared correlation study. More details are within our paper.
This data release, although very late, might still be helpful for others. Our catalog includes the line luminosity (in units of K km s-1 pc2), error, and the "BeamFraction" we defined in our paper to describe the ratio of far-infrared luminosity within each CO or [CI] beam area to that of the entire galaxy. We include 9 CO transitions (J=4-3 to 12-11) and 2 [CI] fine structure lines (3P1-3P0 and 3P2-3P1) in our table. Note that we do not discard low signal-to-noise line measurements here but please do select by signal-to-noise before using them in your study.
Each our line measurement corresponds to one spaxel of the FTS, and the line luminosity is therefore only within the beam area of that spaxel. For many galaxies one beam does not cover the entire galaxy. The beam size also varies with frequency, therefore different lines have different beam sizes. For example, CO(4-3) usually has a beam size of about 43 arcsec, while CO(10-9) of about 18 arcsec. If we want to obtain the CO luminosity for the entire galaxy, we can just divide the line luminosity by the "BeamFrac" value, so that it scales up. Although we caution that this assumes CO and far-infrared light distribution are the same, and has lots of uncertainty especially when the "BeamFrac" is small. An example of using our entire galaxy CO and [CI] line luminosities can be found in Valentino et al. 2018 (2018ApJ...869...27V) and Valentino et al. 2020 (2020 ApJ in press), where the published catalogs in the Astrophysical Journal have included the entire-galaxy-scale CO(7-6) and [CI](3P2-3P1) values based on the catalog here.
Here, the big catalog has two formats, "Liu2015_Big_Table.fits" and "Liu2015_Big_Table.txt", and they are identical.
The other table, "Liu2015_Fig3_reproduced.txt", is the data file for reproducing our Figure 3 in Liu et al. 2015.
