USE OF FAST GROWING TREE SPECIES IN A CROP ROTATION

BÉLA MAROSVÖLGYI; ANDREA VITYI

In a medium or poor-yielding corn-growing area, short rotation tree plantations can be incorporated into a crop rotation in order to improve the soil conditions and to increase the production of the system. The main advantage of alternating black locust as SRC crop with annual crops such as maize in a crop rotation is that the former produces renewable energy for local use, whilst significantly increasing soil quality and total biomass yields.
