Description

This is a dataset compiled from 33 different studies contrasting biodiversity in modified and reference (or less modified) streams. All studies came from abundance data. We compiled studies using several taxa from several geographic regions, but with a strong bias to South America and invertebrates. To make broad comparisons, we categorized streams into three main land-use types: agriculture (e.g., pasture and crops), forestry (e.g., exotic tree plantations and logging) and urbanization. We retained sampling design information from each study (e.g., season, watershed and substrata – summarized as “blocks”).
