Ciència ciutadana a les biblioteques: Observa, analitza, crea i participa

Aquesta publicació recull l’experiència del curs de formació Laboratori de Ciència Ciutadana, impulsat per la la Gerència de Serveis de Biblioteques de la Diputació de Barcelona i impartit per OpenSystems de la Universitat de Barcelona

El Laboratori de Ciència Ciutadana, adreçat als professionals de les biblioteques públiques,  va voler descobrir i investigar de forma participativa el potencial de les biblioteques públiques com a espais on generar nou coneixement amb i per la ciutadania. Des del mes de novembre de 2018 fins al juny de 2019, vint-i-cinc biblioteques han participat en cinc sessions teoricopràctiques que ofereixen una visió actualitzada de la ciència ciutadana arreu del món i han plantejat el debat sobre com pot implicar-s’hi una biblioteca municipal. La publicació recull aquestes reflexions col·lectives sobre les raons per introduir la Ciència Ciutadana a les biblioteques i els beneficis que pot aportar en aquest context a les persones, a les comunitats i als propis equipaments culturals. La formació ha servit també per capacitar els i les professionals participants com a mediadors entre ciutadania i ciència. Durant el Laboratori de Ciència Ciutadana, les biblioteques han seleccionat deu projectes de ciència ciutadana que estan actualment en funcionament i han imaginat com seria la seva implantació al seu municipi, tot adaptant-se a les particularitats culturals i socioambientals del seu espai, barri i població. En aquesta publicació, es mostren aquests 10 projectes en forma de fitxa. Els i les professionals de les biblioteques ofereixen la seva particular visió basant-se en uns objectius concrets i específics relacionats amb el municipi o barri de la seva biblioteca, proposant el perfil idoni dels participants i ressenyant la logística necessària per introduir-los a les biblioteques. Les fitxes inclouen també una proposta d’activitat relacionada. Tot plegat posa de manifest la versatilitat i adaptabilitat dels projectes de ciència ciutadana. La publicació també es fa ressò d’una iniciativa pionera: la co-creació d’un projecte de Ciutadana amb els usuaris i professionals de les biblioteques de Fort Pienc (Barcelona), Olesa de Montserrat i Granollers. El resultat d’aquest procés és el projecte “Jocs per l’Habitatge” que aborda la problemàtica existent sobre l’accés a l’habitatge.

This publication gathers the experience of the Citizen Science Laboratory training course, promoted by the Municipal Libraries Network of the Barcelona Provincial Council and led by OpenSystems of the University of Barcelona.

The Citizen Science Laboratory, addressed to public libraries professionals, wanted to discover and investigate in a participatory way the potential of public libraries as spaces where new knowledge could be generated with and for the public. From November 2018 until June 2019, twenty-five libraries have participated in five theoretical and practical sessions that covered an updated vision of citizen science around the world and have raised the debate on how a municipal library could get involved in Citizen Science activities. The publication gathers these collective reflections about the reasons for introducing Citizen Science at public libraries and about the benefits that it can bring to people, communities and the cultural facilities themselves. The training has also served to qualify the participating professionals as mediators between citizens and science. During the Citizen Science Laboratory, the libraries have selected 10 ongoing Citizen Science projects and have imagined how to run them in their municipality, by adapting the projects to their cultural and socio-environmental context, users and population. In the publication, these 10 projects are visualized as cardboards. Library professionals share their vision based on the characteristics of their municipality, they imagine an ideal profile of the participants, and they review the logistics necessary to implement the project at the library. The cardboards also include an additional proposal for a related activity. All these contents show the versatility and adaptability of citizen science projects. The publication also echoes a pioneering initiative: the co-creation of a Citizen Science project with the users and professionals of the libraries of Fort Pienc (Barcelona), Olesa de Montserrat and Granollers. The result of this process is the "Games for Housing" project that addresses the existing problems regarding access to housing.
