PREVALENCE OF POOR SLEEP QUALITY AMONGWOMEN IN GENERAL POPULATIONIN MILITARY AREA , JEDDAH,2018.

Description

Aim:This study aimed to determine sleep quality status among women adult age ≥18living at National Guard residential city in Jeddah,2018. Method:this was a cross sectional study where a total of 252women adults were studied. Participants were recruited using multistage sampling. Face to face interview was used to collect data on socio-demographic and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) was used to measure sleep quality. Results: showed that the prevalence of poor sleep quality was 61%.The average sleep latency was 31 minutes (SD ? 27.9), 116 (46.1%) had reported prolonged sleep-onset latency (>30minutes), only 93 (36.9%) reported that they had less than 7 hours of sleep per night, 101 (40.1%) had habitual sleep efficiency (<85%). Conclusion:Our study suggests that approximately 2 out of 3 women adults slept poorly and lack of awareness about sleep disorders and the meaning of sleep quality is the major problem of poor sleep quality among the general public.
