Lecture based on my research on Bernard Mandeville and Scottish Enlightenment modified for Pekka Sulkunen's sociology course focusing on early modern philosophy, inspired partly by Reinhart Koselleck, but mainly originally on Sulkunen's thinking about the nature of sociology and his reading of Enlightenment thinkers.
