Description
Agenda of a workshop of the ACE-DATA Antarctic Sea-Atmosphere Interactions Data (ASAID) project, which was held at École Polytecnique Fédéral de Lausanne (EPFL) in November 2018.
The Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition took place over a period of three months during the austral summer of 2016-2017 and presents the first foray into linking the islands, the surrounding ocean and the Antarctic continent. On board the R/V Akademik Tryoshnikov scientists from a wide range of disciplines undertook oceanographic, terrestrial and atmospheric studies and collected data and samples on the expedition track around the Antarctic continent.
The ACE-DATA: Delivering Added value To Antarctica project, a joint venture of the Swiss Polar Institute, the Paul Scherrer Institute and the Swiss Data Science Center began shortly after the expedition. It comprises two parts, of which one is a study of air-sea interactions using data science techniques, known as ASAID, while the other part is the creation of an openly accessible platform for all data collected during ACE.
