Description

pyobis is a Python package for accessing data from the Ocean Biodiversity Information System (OBIS) through the OBIS API. OBIS is a global open-access data and information clearing-house on marine biodiversity for science, conservation and sustainable development, which harvests occurrence records from thousands of datasets and makes them available as a single integrated dataset.

With pyobis, users can search and download species occurrence records, look up taxa, datasets, and OBIS nodes, and retrieve checklists, with results returned as pandas DataFrames and optional request caching.

pyobis is available from PyPI and conda-forge, with documentation at iobis.github.io/pyobis. This archive contains the package source code from github.com/iobis/pyobis.
