Mechanical Properties and Microstructural Characterization of WAAM-Deposited Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel

Description

This study investigates the mechanical properties and microstructural characteristics of Duplex 2205 stainless steel deposited via Wire-and-Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), a material widely used in demanding applications for its superior mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. A single-bead wall was produced using selected process parameters based on process stability and arc energy requirements, and subsequently evaluated for surface quality, bead appearance, and overall morphology. Microstructural analysis was conducted to assess the austenite/ferrite phase ratio, while mechanical performance was evaluated using microhardness, tensile strength, and impact toughness tests. The results provide a comprehensive insight into the structural integrity and performance of WAAM-deposited Duplex 2205 stainless steel.
