Description
The Pardaliscidae is one of the most abundant and species-rich families of Amphipoda in the deep sea. Among pardaliscid species collected from abyssal depths (4185–4182 m) of the Clarion-Clipperton Zone as part of the MANGAN 2023 cruise, a single large representative of the genus Pardalisca was recovered. The species was confirmed as new to science and is here illustrated and described in detail; a confocal laser scanning microscope (CLSM) image and a molecular barcode are also provided. Pardalisca magdalenae sp. nov. differs from its congeners by the shape of the dorsal process on urosomite 1 as well as the morphology of the gnathopod dactyls.
