The concepts “emotions” and “feelings” are terminology different, but interrelated. Such feelings as love to God, reverence, humility etc. are related to the religious ones.

In Shevchenko’s letters there appears a linguistic identity that deeply believes in the Lord. Representation of a particular concept through its paradigmatic relations of its lexeme-verbalizators of adjoining concepts is effective to express T. Shevchenko’s certain religious feeling. For example, the most expressive feeling is the verbalization of love to God, piety through linguistic means of represention of the religious concept “God” as one of the most actively verbalized by traditional for Ukrainian lingual culture and religious texts synonymous descriptions that glorify God: merciful God; the great God; living God and others. Part of this lexical layer is used as phraseological traditional speech etiquette formulae (God forbid, God forbid, the same God etc.) which prove traditional religious feelings for Ukrainian people and Shevchenko as their specific member – a deep love to God and piety.

Shevchenko’s religious feelings are clearly manifested during the exile, when spiritual rebirth of Poet happens through the suffering.

Concept-feeling “humility” is verbalized through religious concept “prayer” verbally presented by lexemes prayer, pray. T. Shevchenko as a person with a high level of religious expression turned to the prayer in various situations. It is also thanks to the Lord even for suffering, which is the highest disclosure of ascetic is humility.
