dplace: Database of Phylogenies of Languages for the study of Cultural Evolution

D-PLACE, a Database of Phylogenies of Languages for the study of Cultural Evolution, is aimed to be a public online portal that maps over 100 cultural features onto language phylogenies and links these to ecological and environmental variables.

This is an archive of the DPLACE development at hand-over from NESCent, where the database was initially developed, to the PIs of the NESCent working group "Explaining cultural diversity: A new evolutionary synthesis." Once ready for public release, the application will be hosted at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History in Russell Gray's group, one of the PIs of the working group. All subsequent development has been and continues to be under the direction and by appointees of the PIs of the Working Group.
