Introduction: The quality of life as a multidimensional phenomenon involving both objective and social indicators of human development and social welfare, and their subjective and individual indicators of physical and psychosocial well-being.
Purpose: The purpose of this retrospective study was to explore the impact of diabetes on the quality of life.
Material & Methods: The sample consisted of recent articles on the topic were found mainly in electronic Medline database and the Association of Greek Academic Libraries (HEAL-Link). Criterion exclusion of articles was the language in addition to Greek and English.
Results: Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects significantly the life of individuals in various ways. Trying effective regulation of diabetes is an extremely complicated process. The constant threat of complications can be alarming and disheartening. Social relationships can be severely affected. Adapting to disease is often accompanied by a variety of negative emotional reactions, including anger, guilt, frustration, denial, and loneliness. The quality of life assessment in diabetes involves careful assessment of dysfunction due to diabetes, the three major dimensions of facets of life's physical, psychological and social.
Conclusions: The assessment of a person's quality of life must be total, covering all levels, which form a broad and deep range of life, from the most subjective to the most objective dimension.
