  • 1. Higher School of Humanities, Zhetysu University named after I. Zhansugurov, Kazakhstan

Description

The study aimed to explore how environmental journalism in Central Asia influences public opinion on environmental issues and sustainable development. It highlights that environmental journalism plays a crucial role in informing society about these critical topics. According to the World Bank's Climate and Environment Program, Kazakhstan has made notable progress in achieving sustainable development goals, particularly through initiatives like landscape restoration and sustainable forest management in regions such as Kyzylorda and Zhambyl9. However, the broader Central Asian region still requires concerted efforts to fully implement sustainable development strategies. The study emphasizes that quality and accessible information on environmental issues is vital for shaping public opinion and mobilizing citizens to address these challenges. Effective environmental journalism can bridge the gap between scientific research and public awareness, fostering a more engaged and informed society that is better equipped to tackle environmental issues and support sustainable development initiatives.
