CHALLENGES AND BEST PRACTICES IN INCLUSIVE HIGHER EDUCATION

Inclusive higher education aims to provide equal learning opportunities for students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities, socio-economic disadvantages, and linguistic or cultural differences. However, institutions face several challenges in achieving true inclusivity. These include inadequate infrastructure, lack of faculty training, insufficient assistive technology, and social stigma. Addressing these barriers requires a combination of policy reforms, curriculum adaptations, and the implementation of best practices. Effective strategies include Universal Design for Learning (UDL), targeted support services, peer mentoring programs, and faculty development initiatives. This paper explores both the challenges and successful models of inclusive higher education, highlighting case studies and emerging trends that contribute to more accessible and equitable learning environments.
