Supporting data: Grid instability growth rates for explicit, electrostatic momentum- and energy-conserving particle-in-cell algorithms
Description
This data archives the simulation results used to produce the figures in the paper "Grid instability growth rates for explicit, electrostatic momentum- and energy-conserving particle-in-cell algorithms".
The results in that paper are obtained by fitting the exponential growth regimes of the electron thermal energy in a series of electrostatic, periodic, 1D particle-in-cell simulations with a neutralizing background density. The independent variables in these simulations are the electron drift and thermal velocities, each normalized by the product of the plasma frequency and grid cell size.
Thus, this archive contains .csv files that give the electron thermal energy (among several other energies used for testing and simulation validation) as a function of time. The filename of each csv specifies the normalized drift and thermal energies of the electrons for that simulation.
