Description

The files included in the uploaded .zip file allow for the recreation of the figures in Murray et al. 2025. The datasets are organized in the "data" folder as follows:

  • The "all-anomalies" and "corrected-anomalies-manual-center" folders hold netcdf files representing curtains of CRL, COAMPS-TC, and dropsonde data. These netcdf files are used for dataset comparisons, CRL data correction, and 2D composite creation.
  • The folder "best-tracks" holds official NHC best tracks and intensities for TC Sam, along with COAMPS-TC forecasted tracks and intensities.

  • The four 'coamps' folders hold COAMPS-TC model output for single leadtimes from TC Sam.

  • The 'crl' folder holds curtains of CRL, interpolated flight level, and interpolated TDR data for three flights into TC Sam.

  • The 'ships' folder holds Statistical Hurricane Intensity Prediction Scheme (SHIPS) data for 2021, which provides the shear direction and intensity information used in this paper.

  • The 'tc-drops' folder contains a trimmed netcdf file holding dropsonde profiles from each of the three P-3 flights into Sam.

  • The 'tc-radar' folder contains a trimmed netcdf file holding TDR merged wind speed data used to plot Sam's wind fields in figure 3. The full dataset is available at: https://www.aoml.noaa.gov/ftp/pub/hrd/data/radar/level3/

  • The 'tdr' folders hold previously composited profile and swath radar data used to create paper figures 4-6.
