MICE TOURISM IN UZBEKISTAN: DEVELOPMENT, CHALLENGES, AND FUTURE PROSPECTS

Description

MICE tourism, which encompasses Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions, is emerging as a key driver of economic growth in Uzbekistan. With its rich cultural heritage, historical landmarks, and modern infrastructure, Uzbekistan is increasingly positioning itself as a competitive destination for international business events. Major cities like Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara have developed state-of-the-art venues, including convention centers, exhibition halls, and hotels, to cater to the growing demand for professional events. The government has invested heavily in improving tourism infrastructure, simplifying visa processes, and promoting the country’s unique attractions to global business travelers.

In recent years, Uzbekistan has seen significant growth in tourism sector, with MICE events contributing substantially to this influx. The projected income from MICE tourism is expected to increase from $961.1 million in 2019 to $1.78 billion by 2030, reflecting an average annual growth rate of 6.1%. Key challenges remain, including limited international connectivity, a shortage of skilled workforce in event management, and competition from established regional destinations. However, Uzbekistan’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development, regulatory reforms, and targeted marketing strategies positions it for continued success in the global MICE tourism market.
