Rescued Ottoman Monthly Rainfall Data in Istanbul, Türkiye (1846-1917)

Description
This project focuses on rescuing and digitizing historical monthly rainfall data in Istanbul from 1846 to 1917 for the first time. Rainfall records were collected by foreign scientists, engineers, and officials during the last century of the Ottoman Empire. Guidelines on Best Practices for Climate Data Rescue by the World Meteorological Organization were followed for rescuing the weather observations.

Version 2 includes the revision of two files "istanbul_1846_2023_monthly.csv" and "istanbul_1846_2023_yearly.csv", as data for 1850 had been misplaced due to a calculation error in Python. This version incorporates the necessary corrections.
This research is a part of a PhD thesis (University College London) supported by the Ministry of National Education in Türkiye
