Description

This submission provides csv files and r scripts with the data and data analysis in R studio from a comprehensive study aimed at investigating the effects of the insecticide teflubenzuron on the survival, growth, reproduction, and chitin metabolites  hanges of the Collembola Folsomia candida, Ceratophysella denticulata and Sinella curviseta over different exposure periods. The folder includes dataset for preliminary studies in reproductionand survival with Ceratophysella denticulata, Protaphorura fimata and Heteromurus nitidus.

file 1: dataset as in CSV format with Comma Separated Values

file 2: R script to created the dose response curves and other plots for the standard toxicity tests (data in file 1)

file 3: preliminary data mentioned in the supplementary material section of the manuscripts for the effects of teflubenzuron on reproduction, survival and body weight of Protaphorura fimata, Ceratophysella denticulata, Heteromurus nitidus and Sinella curviseta.

file 4: data chitin metabolites

file 5: R script analysis of metabolites and reproduction data for benchmark derivation

file 6: R script for plottin of chitin metabolites data

Variables in the files explained:

file 1:

  • sample - unique number identifying each sample
  • species - refers to the abbreviation of the species, three species in total; candida - Folsomia candida; denticula - Ceratophysella denticulata; curviseta - Sinella curviseta; nititdus - Heteromurus nitidus; fimata - Protraphorura fimata.
  • day - day of sampling (is days)
  • age - age (in days) of the animals at the day of sampling
  • replicate - identifies the number of the replicate inside of each treatment (conc)
  • total_weight(mg) - mass of the total of surviving adults in mg
  • surv - number of surviving adults
  • ind_weight - total_weight(mg) devided by surv
  • juv - number of offspring in the sample
  • treatment - indentifies the concentrations in order form 0 to 4 (useful to estimate LOEC/NOEC)
  • conc_nominal - nominal value of the spiked concnetration of telflubenzuron in mg/g
  • conc_t0 - measured value of teflubenzuron in soil right after spiking in mg/kg (actual concnetration of a.s. in soil)
  • conc_intern - average internal concentration measured in the adults at the day of sampling in mg/kg
  • conc_measured  - measured value of teflubenzuron in the soil in mg/g
  • intern_conc - measured value of teflubenzuron per suviving adult in mg/kg

file 3:

  • sample - unique number identifying each sample
  • species - refers to the abbreviation of the species, three species in total; denticula - Ceratophysella denticulata; curviseta - Sinella curviseta; nititdus - Heteromurus nitidus; fimata - Protraphorura fimata.
  • day - day of sampling
  • age - age (in days) of the animals at the day of sampling
  • replicate - identifies the number of the replicate inside of each treatment (conc)
  • total_weight(mg) - mass of the total of surviving adults in mg
  • surv - number of surviving adults
  • ind_weight - total_weight(mg) devided by surv
  • juv - number of offspring in the sample

  • conc_measured (mg/kg) - measured value of teflubenzuron in the soil in mg/g

file 4:

abbreviatons sample, species, conc_nominal, conc_t0, conc_intern, treatment same as file 1 and/or file 3. For metabolites full names please consult the mentioned publication.
