Dimensions and volumes of paranasal air sinuses

The study aimed to determine the dimensions and volumes of frontal, maxillary, and sphenoidal sinuses using CT scans and investigate potential sex and age differences. CT scans of 158 individuals were analyzed. Results showed that males had significantly larger sinuses than females, but age did not significantly affect sinus size. The study suggests that CT scans can be a valuable tool for forensic identification, especially in countries where autopsies are not permitted.
