Extensive Myzus cerasi transcriptional changes associated with detoxification genes upon primary to secondary host alternation

Description

The transcriptome of the black cherry aphid, Myzus cerasi, was investigated using RNAseq when reared on different hosts. We found extensive differences between aphids reared on the primary versus secondary host. Moreover, aphids were not able to infect cress when transferred from cherry. They required an intermediate secondary host before being able to infest cress.
