It was domesticated on the American continent in its southern zone by tribal Native Americans, namely Maya and Inca. It was from Latin America that cassava cultivation spread to other parts of the world through Europeans. Its dispersion began from the sixteenth century until the eighteenth century, respectively for Africa and the Asian continent. Oceania was the last continent to receive cassava, but indirectly. African countries were the first to adopt cassava. Among these countries, Côte d'Ivoire made this culture, a culture of high consumption.
