Description
In our paper "From Natural Projection to Partial Model Checking and Back", we proved that natural projection reduces to partial model checking and, when cast in a common setting, the two are equivalent.
In addition, there we presented a quotienting algorithm and introduced a tool for the partial model checking of finite-state systems that can be used as an alternative to natural projection.
In connection with the TACAS paper, we present here PESTS (Partial Evaluator of Simple Transition Systems), i.e., the tool suite for the partial evaluation that we used for the case study and experiments of the paper.
Beside the partial evaluation of concurrent systems, PESTS can be used to address the following different problems:
1. synthesizing a submodule that, in composition with others, respects a global specification, aka the submodule construction problem (SCP);
2. synthesizing a controller to enforce a specification on a given component, aka the controller synthesis problem (CSP).
Both these applications are highligthed by dedicated test cases provided with the tool package.
