Description

Seal ID is a matlab character array of 227,293 observations (rows) showing the seal ID for each observation.

SES observation dates.mat is a character array of 227,293 observations showing the date of each observation.

SeaElephantsDataPigmSatClass.mat is a numeric array of 227,293 observations by 24 columns, column 1 is the observation id, column 2 is a naming id, column 3 is the latitude, 4 is the longitude, 5 refers to , 6 is the PrCA, 7 is the normalized PrCA based on the variance of each individual, 8 to 17 are the 10 phytoplankton pigments :total Chla, Divynil-Chla (DVChla), Chlb, Divynil-Chlb (DVChlb), 19'Hexfucoxanthin (19HF), 19'Butfucoxanthin (19BF), Fucoxanthin (Fuco), Peridinin (Perid), Alloxanthin (Allo), and Zeaxanthin (Zea), 18 is the satellite Chla, 19 to 22 are the Rrs at the 4 wacelengths (412,443,490,555), 23 is the sea surface temperature (SST), and 24 is the class for the same pixel of the observation based on the date, latitude, and longitude.

SOM_Pigment_Training.m is the matlab script containing the code used to train the Self-Organizing Map. SOM-Toolbox-master.zip contains all the necessary functions and is a prerequisite software library (SOM Toolbox 2.0) for Matlab, implementing the self-organizing map algorithm, Copyright (C) 1999 by Esa Alhoniemi, Johan Himberg, Jukka Parviainen, and Juha Vesanto and accessible at https://github.com/ilarinieminen/SOM-Toolbox.
