Brant Point Lighthouse
Description
First commissioned in 1746, the Brant Point Lighthouse is located on the north shore of Nantucket Island, in Massachusetts. The original wood tower burned down in 1758. Subsequently, the second lighthouse was destroyed by high winds in 1774. The third tower once again burned down in 1783. A fourth, fifth, and sixth tower were of sub-par construction and were each condemned after wear and tear. By 1901, a seventh tower was constructed, which still stands today.
