Description

The work starts with the analysis of existing mathematical models for the 3D digital representation of cities. This way four such models are analysed following a grid of criteria which includes also the link between geometric representation and semantic enrichment: GIS, Google Earth, CAD and Second Life. The functionalities of some of these are in dialogue. Also, senses connected to earthquake impact are represented. The goal is the development of a model for the digital representation of the changes generated by the 1755 earthquake on the urban structure of Lisbon. The proposed model is analysed following the same grid. It includes a teaching component, based on game, a reason for which also this issue in architectural representation, digital and not only, was analysed. Only the urban landmarks drawn on the azulejos ceramics which presents the city before the earthquake are represented in 3D through morphogenesis according to the developed criteria, these dialoguing with the map, historical and contemporary, which evolves with time during the game. The work presents the concept and the computer code.

Notes

The work is the result of some COST Short Term Scientific Mission grants of the authors (visit of the main author to the coauthor in 2012 and back in 2013 under another COST action), was presented at the ESF funded NeDiMAH workshop on return from the TU0801 STSM and printed with the financial support of the Marie Curie Alumni Association (Micro Media Grant in 2014). COST actions are implemented by ESF under an FP7 grant agreement.
