dataset Spagnesi et al.: New chemical signatures and 39Ar dating from Weißseespitze ice cores (Eastern Alps): pre-industrial pollution traces from Roman Empire to Early Modern Period

Description

This dataset includes concentrations of 18 trace elements (Li, V, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, As, Rb, Sr, Ag, Cd, Ba, Tl, Pb, Bi, U) and levoglucosan, all measured from the 2019 Weißseespitze (WSS) ice core. Additionally, microcharcoal accumulation rates (n/cm²/year), derived from a peat core collected in 2009 at the nearby Schwarzboden mire (approximately 20 km southeast of the WSS glacier), are provided for comparative analysis. These values are documented in the associated manuscript. Results from a Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF) analysis applied to the entire dataset are also included.
