Description

This repository includes data for: Shaftel, R., E. Larson, D. Bogan, B. Hagedorn, D. Merrigan, S. O’Neal, D. Rinella, and C.A. Woody. Freshwater bioindicators demonstrate sensitivities to potential changes from climate and mineral development in Alaska. Environmental Monitoring and Assessment. https://doi.org/10.1007/s10661-025-14275-0.

The goal of this research was to provide guidance on selection of freshwater bioindicators sensitive to climate change and mineral development in the ecologically important Bristol Bay region of southwest Alaska. We addressed three objectives as part of this research: (1) identify freshwater taxa in the region that may be sensitive
to future impacts from climate change and mineral development, (2) evaluate the list of recorded freshwater taxa as potential bioindicators for the region
based on their persistence over time and distribution across wadeable streams, and (3) investigate long-term changes in stream benthic communities.

The data on this repository include one readme file, eight datasets, and two reports. The readme file has descriptions for all files.
