- In the process of compiling a bibliography of Ethiopian Limnichidae for ongoing studies we noticed the similarity between the descriptions of the monotypic genera Simplocarina Pic and Cyrtolimnichus Deleve, suggesting the possibility that they could refer to the same taxon (the genus Simplocarina was overlooked by Deleve, J. (1968. Bulletin et annales de la Societe Royale d'Entomologie de Belgique 104:212-274). The study of the type material of both species, and of additional unsorted material deposited in the Natural History Museum in London (NHM), confirmed our suspicion. In this note we designate Cyrtolimnichus punctulatus Deleve as a junior synonym of Simplocarina curticollis Pic.
