Description

The study "Impact of COVID-19 on mental health and wellbeing in Austria" aims to explore the impact that the COVID-19 outbreak is having on people's mental health and wellbeing in Austria from the perspective of Capability Approach. The Capability Approach is a theoretical framework that proposes that wellbeing is determined by people's freedom to engage in forms of being and doing that are of intrinsic value to the person. The online questionnaire includes a standardised assessment measure to assess wellbeing from a capability perspective (OxCAP-MH), along with other commonly used standardised assessment measures for determining levels of common mental disorders (HADS), wellbeing (WHO-5), and social support (MSPSS).

In the first wave of the study that was conducted in May-June 2020, a total of 560 adult Austrian residents responded to an online survey about their experiences durig Covid-19 lockdown which was implemented between 15 March and 15 April 2020 in Austria. The presented dataset provides data gathered during the study that are relevant to assess the capability and wellbeing impacts of Covid-19-related variables. The Codebook to the dataset provides a detailed description of the variables, while the study protocol explains the desing of the study.
