Description
EDDY DETECTION TOOLBOX DEVELOPED BY DR. PIERRICK PENVEN
The algorithm detects the geostrophic eddies from altimetry and ocean models sea surface height (SSH).
Detection method : It is based on a combination of detecting the largest closed contours in SSH and the positive values of an Okubo-Weiss parameter. This require less turnable parameters in comparison to previous methods. This is useful for the comparisons between different products, such as models and altimetry.
Details of the method is described in Halo et al. (2014a).
