  • 12. Announcements. President Caterino announced that the society will soon seek incorporation as a means of formalizing our institutional structure. This act will protect society officers and assets from litigation and allow greater flexibility in what we can offer members. Members will be asked at some point to review a redrafting of the constitution and bylaws. A Student Research Award has been approved by the Executive Committee with Mike Ivie leading a committee to draft guidelines. There will be a call for proposals later this year. This is a significant award of up to $4,500. In addition to the reduction in page charges to $10 per page, the society will now charge a flat fee of $75 per published page of color images in The Coleopterists Bulletin. Max Barclay announced that the European Coleoptera Congress is 3-8 August 2014 and that prior to this The Natural History Museum will host a 3-day conference on Scarabaeoidea (30 July- 1 August 2014). Ron Cave announced the impending publication of his (along with Brett Ratcliffe) book on the Dynastinae of Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize as well as made a call to receive specimens of Dynastinae of the West Indies, their next project. Terry Erwin suggested that the society consider a move to Pensoft Publishers with their new and innovative advanced publishing tools. Bill Warner suggested he would like to see the addition of a "swap or wanted" section to the website for literature and specimens.
