Ortaokul Öğrencilerinin Liseye Geçiş Sınavına (LGS) Hazırlık Çalışmalarının İncelenmesi

The aim of the study is to examine the preparation of secondary school students for the high school transition exam. In the study, cross-sectional screening design was used from the types of screening models. The participants to be included in the study were selected from among the eighth-grade students studying in 4 different public secondary schools in the city center of Aksaray through a purposeful sample. The sample of 230 eighth-grade students who volunteered to participate in the study constitute the researcher's sample. The personal information form and questionnaire form developed by the researchers were used as data collection tools. The research data were collected from the students within a course hour in a way not to disrupt the school lessons by adhering to the voluntary basis after the necessary official permissions were obtained. The collected data were analyzed descriptively by using SPSS 22.0 data analysis program. In addition, the answers given to 1 open-ended question in the survey were analyzed by using content analysis. Students are most often prepared for the high school entrance exam by studying at home in addition to school lessons. Most of the students’ study for the exam on average 1-2 hours a day. Students learn that school lessons alone are not enough to prepare for the exam; that the school contributes the most to increasing their knowledge and experience during the exam preparation process; They think that solving questions and attending school classes are the most effective for the exam. In addition, the place where students feel most comfortable in this process is their own home. It is thought that these results will be a source for the preparation process of secondary school students for the high school transition exam.
