*Analysis of the Destatis-Data*
Destatis provides the information as a graphics file (PNG).The information was copied and transferred into an OpenOffice-file.

*Procedure*
The DBS offers information as Excel-files. These were downloaded and cleared from missing values. Subsequently, the number of valid values per field was determined and average values for each field were computed by dividing sums with the number of valid values.
The expenditures for books (including dissertations) were calculated by substracting the expenses for printed and licensed magazines and newspapers (fields 123, 134) from the total expenditures for books (including dissertations), magazines and newspapers (field 21).
The results were merged with the Destatis data in one OpenOffice-file.
