Percepciones de la salud mental en la era post-covid, en la población de la zona occidental de El Salvador

The objective of the research was to identify the perception of the Salvadoran population about the effects on their mental health from the covid-19 pandemic; The methodology was a quantitative, exploratory, retrospective and field study, using an ad hoc questionnaire considering variables related to mental health, for which a random sample of 500 people residing in the western zone of El Salvador participated, which was defined with statistical procedures and to whom an informed consent was given; The results allow us to establish that at least 6 out of 10 people show a significant affectation after the schism of the pandemic, and that they currently manifest symptoms associated with: depression, anxiety, stress and in some cases, suicidal desires; In conclusion, it is necessary to follow up on these results, for which the population must be approached with specialized instruments by affectation to more accurately determine the possibility of a generalized post-traumatic effect.
