The illustrations show genetic analyses of cases or outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) of the H5 subtype in wild birds and poultry in Germany week-by-week based on current data. Genetic sequence information is evaluated and merged with data from the Animal Disease Notification System and the Institute of Diagnostic Virology (IVD) of the FLI. It should be noted that the cases/outbreaks presented here represent only a selection of the total number of cases, namely the sequenced cases. Within the HPAI subtype H5, different genotypes are distinguished on the basis of sequence comparisons, and colour-coded accordingly. The individual cases are shown in map A and indicate their geographical distribution. Chart B shows the respective number of sequenced genotypes. Chart C breaks down the distribution of sequences of the different HPAIV subtypes in relation to their occurrence in wild birds (wild), poultry (poultry) and captive birds (e.g. zoo birds, captive). Graph D shows the distribution of the number of sequenced genotypes over time.
